About
Hi, I’m Esther Kwon. I’m a multidisciplinary artist working across tattooing, permanent makeup, and film and television makeup artistry. I’ve always been drawn to detail and transformation, and my goal is to create work that blends artistry, storytelling, and precision— whether on skin or on screen. As a tattoo artist, I specialize in micro-realism and black-and-grey designs, often inspired by nature, crafting pieces that feel personal and lifelike. In permanent makeup, I focus on enhancing natural features with subtle, long-lasting results. For film and television, I bring characters to life through makeup and special effects, shaping unforgettable looks for productions, editorials, and the red carpets. Before diving fully into makeup and tattoo artistry, I started my creative journey as a jewelry designer at Haskell Jewels, where I designed an exclusive collection for Steve Madden and worked on the core team for Betsey Johnson. I also trained in Special Effects at Make-Up Designory (MUD) in New York and studied jewelry design at the Fashion Institute of Technology, experiences that shaped my eye for structure, form, and detail—skills I carry into every project I take on. Today, I love combining all three disciplines into one cohesive practice. Whether I’m tattooing a meaningful design, enhancing features with permanent makeup, or crafting transformative looks for film, my goal is the same: to create art that feels personal, striking, and unforgettable.
